World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to boost an item's gear score up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like an ideally made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not vary greatly post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats, such as crit chance, attack damage as well as PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Many weapons also come with a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a single unit. This bonus may be greater than the damage a weapon upgrade can do on its own.

Armor items can also be upgraded to increase their stats. This can boost the defense of a helm or chest while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility. Armor also has the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it may roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain after upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving an attack damage of 3. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon can be possible by pressing the green button within the item menu with the circling arrows. This will roll the item and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make a huge differences in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which can make traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the more defense you can offer your character, the greater health you'll get from each point. So, it's best to upgrade your armor.
To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and in order to unlock each one you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
Full Post of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, for instance can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in frigid conditions with a lot of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense, which means you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.
You can't upgrade your armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior then you should concentrate on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or spell power. Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the participant, produce an immediate effect for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions, each with different effects and durations. Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount of XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion as well as the item's rarity and Mark Level.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first before their secondary gear and other equipment that they will not replace anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). When deciding on the items to upgrade, players must also take into account the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players and they want to upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they are no longer useful, and the new trinket will receive an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
